Poetry

~
“The moon must have loved me again,
following, as if I were a child,

with wool-shine it chases through saplings
and shoots on the paper birch trail,

down the soft slope of Laurelhurst park
– here, at night, a kingdom of crickets.

Here the dead leaves crunch gladly apart.
Why is it so difficult remembering I was happy?

How imaginings of every sort once played
by the pond, on the underside of logs.”
